Oh, the joys of sleepless nights..

The past few nights have been quite challenging. She wants to cry pretty much all the time, and Alex and I try desperately to figure out what it is she wants. Is she hungry? No.. Does her diaper need changing? No.. Wait.. yes.. Still crying? What now? Now, I realize that I'm not even close to the first new mom having these troubles, and I won't be the last, but seriously.. How did any of our mothers survive?!

I love my baby Eva, and I love discovering what being a mom is all about. I'm just getting curious now.. Does it ever get "normal"? Or do we just redefine what normal is..

Any thoughts out there?

First Milestone! No more cord!

Today was a special day for Eva! Her umbilical cord came off this morning. She is 6 days old today, so I guess it's about the time that's supposed to happen. Last night as I was changing her I did notice that it was kind of spinning around like it was not attached by much, so it was no real surprise. But what a milestone! Does it ever make it easier to change her diaper with that clip out of the way!

Eva's First Bath

So Tuesday evening we decided to give Eva her first bath. We got a cute Winnie the Pooh tub and were all set to get her all squeaky clean. I used my magic rubber ducky to tell me that the water was just the right temperature, and we had all the supplies on hand. We set her in the tub and not 30 seconds goes by before she had a nice messy poop right there in the tub! It was cute, funny and gross all at the same time. We could not stop laughing.. So, we started all over again and finally had a nice clean baby Eva.
